Athagarh: A youth drowned to death after a car he was traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a well in Ichhapur village under Athagarh police limits in Cuttack district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Sahu of Shankarpur village in Dhenkanal district. He was working as a gardener at Tigiria Block Horticulture office.
The mishap took place while Biswajit was on his way to Ichhapur from Jenapada in his Maruti Suzuki Alto car. Biswajit, who was driving the car himself, lost control over the wheels few minutes after leaving Jenapada causing the vehicle to skid off the road and fell into a roadside well.
The victim sustained critical injury and remained trapped inside the well for around half an hour. He was rescued from the well by fire brigade teams later and rushed to Athagarh CHC where doctors declared him dead.
Police have lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident.
