Keonjhar: At least one person was killed and three others sustained critical injury at Tarini Square near Renthasahi under Basantpur panchayat in the district today after two bikes collided head-on.
The deceased has been identified as Nishakar Dehury of Upara Kadakala village under Banshapala block. The injured are Dukhu Nayak, Prafulla Nayak, Gourang Nayak of Sundergarh district.
The mishap took place this morning while Nishakar and Dukhu were heading to Balda Serajuddin Mines riding a bike (Registration No. OD 09 A 0984). They were struck head-on by another bike (Registration No. OD 09 G 2240) coming from the opposite direction and rode by Gourang Naik as he lost control over the wheels. While Nishakar died on the spot three others sustained critical injury.
The injured were rushed to the Keonjhar DHH by Bamebari Police, which reached the spot immediately after the accident. Police started investigation after seizing both the bikes and sending the body for postmortem.
