The held accused has been identified as Tusharkant Behera alias Happy. The accused is a resident of Kalichaballav area near Athagarh.

A team of Tigiria Police conducted the raid after getting a tip-off on the accused’s presence in the Kalichaballav forest last night and succeeded in arresting him. Loot items including biscuits, breads and other confectionery products were seized during the raid.

Informing on the crime, Tigiria Police Station IIC Sushant Satpathy said, the looters had chalked out a unique method for loot and as a part of it had redesigned a Bolero to resemble a milk van to mislead police. The same vehicle was used in the loot which took place on July 12.

After intercepting the vehicle at Kalaragada Chhak and thrashing the driver heavily they snatched away his vehicle. Later, they left the van in Kalichaballav forest after looting all food items worth lakhs from it.

Tigiria Police had rescued the vehicle from the forest in the same night after the driver called up it an informed about the loot.

Police said the investigation is underway in the case and the remaining accused would be nabbed soon.
