1 dead, 2 critical as car hits roadside electric pole

Nayagarh: At least one person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a car they were traveling in skidded off the road and struck a roadside electric pole on Nayagarh-Khandapada road near Fire Brigade office here last night.

The deceased has been identified as the Manager of State Bank of India, Nayagarh branch, Satish Kumar Sindhu.

The mishap took place while Sindhu along with two others was heading to Nayagarh from Khandapada late in the night after some work. The driver of the Maruti Suzuki Swift car (Registration No. OD 05 T 5003) they were traveling in, lost control of the wheels while overtaking a truck near Khandapada Fire Brigade office and ended up dashing against a roadside electric poll. As the vehicle turned turtle following the crash, Sindhu died on the spot.

Khandapada police rushed the injured duo in the accident to a nearby hospital in the night. They shifted the injured to Bhubaneswar this morning due to deteriorating condition.

Police have started investigation in the case after seizing the dead body and the mangled vehicle.
