Ranchi: Children at the earliest should be taught the value and importance of education in their lives. They must be taught that education is the ticket to fulfilling the dreams and having a productive and blissful life. Education is, and always will be an important factor in building a strong foundation in one’s life.

And nobody can understand this better than Pramod Paswan, an Assistant Sub-Inspector at Gudabanda Police Station in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district. Despite being posted at a naxal-hit area, Pramod serves as a cop during the day and teaches children at Madhya Vidyalaya in Hatiapada during night.

Pramod knows that in the ongoing tug-of-war between the government forces and the armed naxals, the lives of innocent children is getting destroyed. In the naxal affected area, Pramod saw that people are living in abject poverty and lack basic necessities of life. There were not many schools in the region and the education system was in an abysmal state. Therefore, he decided to teach students there, in order to improve their lives and bring a positive change.

From his busy schedule, Pramod takes out time everyday to teach village students who have no access to school or education. He is very proud of the fact that he is serving his country and his society in two ways- by working as a sincere cop in the day and a dedicated tutor during the night. He firmly believes that if every child in the region is educated, then the day is not far when Naxalism and armed rebellions will be wiped out from the region.

Pramod’s efforts to bring about a positive change in the society is indeed praiseworthy and commendable. His story shows that in order to initiate a change, one needs to go out of the way.
