Bhubaneswar: Not long ago, Reshma from Lucknow Uttar Pradesh sat with a heavy heart wondering if she could ever come out of the trauma she had faced. She was attacked by acid and her sin was giving birth to five daughters and not a single son. Today, at the second edition of Kiah Fashion Show, Reshma is not only a model but is supporting for a cause. The money collected through donation will be used for educating drop-out girls, who had to give up studying due to financial constraints.

“I faced the wrath for bearing five daughters. I had almost given up in life. But today, walking for the education of girl drop-outs, I feel so proud. The fact that I am not only taking care of my family but also help other girls is immensely satisfying,” says Reshma.

On Tuesday, coinciding with the Children’s Day celebration, eight acid attack survivors from different parts of the country participated in Kiah Fashion Show to raise funds for Alaknanda Project, a flagship programme of Parichay Foundation which financially helps drop-outs.

Adding glitter to the ceremony, was actor and writer Tisca Chopra, who joined the eight girls on the ramp.

“I am deeply delighted to be here to support the cause of supporting drop-out girls. I think much more needs to be done across the country. Once you educate the girls, you give them an opportunity to change their lives. Walking with acid attack victims is inspiring because they faced challenges that we can’t even imagine,” Tisca says.
