Tragedy King Dilip Kumar turns 95 today

Mumbai:  Bollywood’s first superstar and “Tragedy King” Dilip Kumar turned 95 on Monday. His wife and veteran actress Saira Banu tweeted from Dilip Kumar’s official Twitter handle to thank fans for their prayers and revealed Dilip Kumar’s birthday plans.

Dilip Kumar got his first film, Jwar Bhata, in 1944, directed by Amiya Chakravarty. He has acted in over 65 films in his career and is known for his iconic roles in movies like Devdas (1955), Naya Daur (1957), Mughal-e-Azam (1960), Ganga Jamuna (1961), Kranti (1981), and Karma (1986).

Last seen on the silver screen in Qila in 1998, Kumar was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
