Karan Johar Announces His Next ‘Takht’, Starring Ranveer Singh And Kareena Kapoor Khan
Mumbai: Almost two years after ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, Karan Johar has announced his next titled ‘Takht’. The movie, which is going to be a period-drama, stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor. The multi-starrer is slated to release in 2020.
The movie was announced by the director himself on his official Instagram account. Introducing his film, Johar tweeted- “An incredible story embedded in history…An epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne… A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession…TAKHT is about WAR for LOVE….@dharmamovies @apoorvamehta18”
This was followed by another post in which Karan Johar revealed the ensemble star cast of his dream project. He wrote-“I am so excited and honoured to announce the lead cast of #TAKHT @RanveerOfficial #KareenaKapoorKhan @aliaa08 @vickykaushal09 @psbhumi #JanhviKapoor @AnilKapoor #HirooYashJohar @apoorvamehta18 @sumit_roy_ @hussainhaidry”
Interestingly, Karan Johar’s last ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ had released in October 2016. The movie, which featured Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan was a smashing hit at the box office.
‘Takht’ will be a period drama based in the Mughal era and would depict the politics, rivalry and silent battle within a royal household to acquire the majestic Mughal throne.
