Anil Kapoor to Play Shah Jehan, Ranveer Singh To Portray Dara Shikoh In Karan Johar’s ‘Takht’

Mumbai: Ace-filmmaker Karan Johar’s recently announced magnum opus ‘Takht’ has excited everyone. The movie will undoubtedly be grand- a dream starcast, ornate costumes and breathtaking sets. Karan has even candidly stated that ‘Takht’ will be a Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham (K3G) set in the Mughal era.

As per a report of ‘Bollywood Hungama’, Anil Kapoor will be playing the role of Mughal emperor Shah Jehan in Takht while Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal will be seen as Dara Sikoh and Aurangzeb respectively.

Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan will be playing Shah Jehan’s daughter Jahanara Begum and Alia Bhatt will play Dara Shikoh’s wife Begum Nadira Banu. ‘Toilet’ actress Bhumi Pednekar will essay the role of Aurangzeb’s wife Dilras Banu Begum while Jahnvi Kapoor will play a slave girl in the movie.

Meanwhile, Karan Johar in a recent interview revealed that Takht will be his biggest project till date. He went on and said that he was really scared before the announcement and is still petrified as the project is very ambitious; involving a lot of hard work. Johar added that Takht will showcase a gamut of human emotions but chiefly centre around relationship dynamics, betrayal and court politics in the Mughal era.
