Sikkim Tribal Research Institute team visits KISS

KIIS campus visitBhubaneswar: A 30-member delegation from Tribal Research Institute of Sikkim visited Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), the largest residential school for tribals in the world, today. During its visit, the team witnessed the mega kitchen and the huge vocational training centre inside the sprawling school premises.

KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta welcomed the delegation inside the KISS campus and had a discussion with them. Later, the team met the students of the institute and spent some quality time with them.

The delegation led by the Director of Sikkim Tribal Research Institute Karmalndi Lepcha and administrative officer TT Lepcha, which was accompanied by Odisha Tribal Research Institute’s joint director MP Dhani, evinced interest in opening of a branch of KISS in Sikkim.

Praising KIIS’ efforts to provide education to a large number of tribal students, the team said it would send a proposal to set up a branch of KIIS in Sikkim to Dr Samanta through the Sikkim Government soon.
