Balangir: Tension ran high at Titilagarh DAV Autonomous College today after hundreds of students took to streets over infrastructure issues in the campus and staged a dharna before the institute’s main gate.

Students shunned classes and marched in a rally in the campus this morning, demanding fulfillment of a seven point charter of demand. Alleging that the college authorities have turned blind eye to several key issues of students, the strikers appealed them to take steps to upgrade the college as a government college, immediately.

Students’ demands also include, provision for safe drinking water in the campus, water connectivity to ladies hostel, construction of a gents hostel, new toilets and better road connectivity to the campus.

Traffic flow on Titilagarh-Raipur route came to a grinding halt following the strike, as agitating students held a road blockade on NH 59 later in the day.

Students have warned to intensify their stir in the coming days if college authorities fails to fulfil their demands.
