“Proud to be born in Odisha which has rich and beautiful culture,” says Padmalaya Bargarh: Padmalaya Nanda, who made the state and the country proud by winning three titles in the Little Miss Universe-2017 beauty contest recently, said that she feels very fortunate to have been born in Odisha which has a very rich and beautiful culture.

The teenage beauty from Cuttack also said that during her participation in the Little Miss Universe pageant, she realised that the Indian culture is the best and no other culture of the world can be compared to it.

“I am extremely happy to be here. For me, it is a unique thing to be felicitated in Western Odisha, because I had promoted the culture of this part of the state in the Little Miss Universe competition. I had worn a Sambalpuri Saree and danced to a Sambalpuri number, which was highly appreciated by the jury. The dance, costume and the act of the artists of Western Odisha is very beautiful. By participating in the competition, I realised that Indian culture is the best and no other culture can be compared to it. I am very proud to be born in Odisha, which has a rich and beautiful culture,” said Padmalaya on her first visit to Western Odisha yesterday.

During her visit, she took part in a plantation drive organized by Go Green Bargarh. She also planted a tree and set an example for others.

The teenage beauty also shared her experience of the beauty pageant with some school students, who gave her a warm welcome on her arrival. Many of the students took photo with her. Some of them were delighted to shake hands with her while others pleaded her for an autograph.

Later, Padmalaya was felicitated in a special programme that was organized by the Bargarh Rotary Central at Bargarh Milan Mandap.
