Khurda: The Odisha Chapter of Acid Survivors & Women’s Welfare Foundation (ASWWF) was inaugurated on Saturday by an acid attack survivor in the presence of Surya Narayan Patra, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Welfare and Cooperation, YB Khurania, Commissioner of Police and Lalit Das, Special Home Secretary. A campaign ‘War Against Acid Violence’ was also launched.
The primary role of the Foundation will be to identify and contact acid survivors in the State while also creating awareness through campaigns and seminars.
A Trauma Information Care Kit, which addresses the issues of prevention of trauma during medical treatment, psycho-social care and rehabilitation of the survivors afflicted by acid and burns attack was also unveiled.
