Dhenkanal: Bajrang Dal activists intercepted a truck for allegedly transporting cattle illegally in Bhuban village today. The police have confiscated the truck and detained the driver for further investigation.

After getting information about the illegal transportation of cows, Bajrang Dal workers, along with a few locals, intercepted and nabbed the truck (Reg No. WB 33A 3834) near the Bhuban Electrical office. The truck was illegally transporting 17 cows to West Bengal.

Residents of the village  have complained that the illegal transportation of cattle on NH 35 had become a routine affair. These activities took place with the connivance of police officials, said Sudhakar Sahu, a villager.

Earlier, in another illegal cattle transportation case in Mahulpal village of Dhenkanal district, the accused driver, Zafar Khan had confessed that he had often bribed police officials to transport cattle to West Bengal.
