Angul Youth Club lights 108 lamps for Jaga-Balia!

lampAngul: Praying for the speedy recovery of conjoined minor twins Jaga and Balia of Kandhamal district in Odisha, who had undergone a marathon surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi recently, a youth club lighted 108 earthen lamps at Amalapada here on Saturday.

Reports say hundreds of people from the Amalapada area in Angul town took part in the event lighting 108 ghee lamps held by Mahabinayak Youth Club, a youth association in the area, at a Ganesh Puja pandal this morning. Wishing for prayed to Lord Ganesh, known as Bighna Vinashak or remover of all impediments, for successful completion of the surgical procedure and well being of the twins.

Notably, KalingaTV first brought the Jaga-Balia issue to the fore through an exclusive report a few months ago, following which the State Government swung into action and granted a financial assistance of Rs 1 Crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the twin’s surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi.

The twins, who are suffering from a congenital issue called craniopagus syndrome, have successfully undergone the first phase surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi under the supervision of around 40 expert doctors across specialties on August 29. The second phase surgery on the twins would be performed by an American doctor after a gap of two to three months.

The surgical procedure would be accomplished in three stages, according to dcotors.
