Keonjhar: Two minor girls drowned to death after falling into a pond in Paradapatna village under Ghatagaon police limits in the district Wednesday evening.
The deceased duo has been identified as Rani Munda (4), daughter of Narayan Munda and Bijuli Munda (3), daughter of Ramesh Munda.
The victims, both cousins, were playing near a pond in the village yesterday evening when they slipped into water and drowned. When the duo did not return home till late in the night, their family members conducted a frantic search and lodged a complaint at the Ghatagaon Police Station.
The dead bodies of the victims were recovered from the pond by police late yesterday evening after some villagers spotted them and informed the police.
Police have lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident and started investigation.
