Boudh: At least one person was killed and two others sustained critical injury in clash among suspected political party rivals in Kurumunda village under Manamunda police limits in the district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Sujit Pradhan of Saradhapali village. The injured duo is Dasarath Pradhan and Sudhakar Rajhans of the same village.

The victims were returning home riding a bike late in the night yesterday when the attack took place. Members of a rival political group waiting for them at the Kurumunda Square attacked them with sharp weapons. While Sujit bled profusely and died on the spot following the attack, Dasarath and Sudhakar sustained critical injury.

The injured were rushed to Sonepur CHC and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla due to deteriorating condition by family members.

Manamunda Police reached the village and started an investigation after seizing the dead body.

While police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the assailants who are absconding since the attack, they suspect it to be fallout of political rivalry between two groups in the village existing from the last panchayat election.
