Baripada: In a tragic incident, two minor sisters drowned to death while taking bath in a pond at Durgapur village under Baisinga police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Ranjita Nayak (9) and her cousin Ruchi Nayak (8).
Some locals who noticed the girls drowning fished them out out of the pond and rushed them to the Baisinga hospital where doctors declared them dead.
A pall of gloom has descended in the area following the incident.
