Two get 7-yr jail term in bank embezzlement case

Two get 7 year jail term in Jajpur bank money syphoning case Jajpur: The Jajpur CJM court has awarded seven years of imprisonment to two accused in a bank embezzlement case.

The court awarded the jail term to Brajraj Biswal, the-then District Panchayat Officer and Bichitranand Mohanty. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each on them.

Crime Branch DG BK Sharma informed the development in the case on his Twitter page.

The duo was convicted under sections 120 B, 409,467 and 471 of the IPC.

Biswal and Mohanty had withdrawn government money to the tune of Rs. 1.9 crores from banks through fake cheques.

Initially, the local police investigated the case. The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch subsequently took over the probe following the directive of the state government.
