Public Hearing on Daruthenga Dumping row held

Bhubaneswar: The public hearing on Daruthenga dump yard row was held in the presence of Khurda ADM Manoj Mohanty, SPCB officials and representatives of seven Gram Panchayats on Tuesday.

The meeting, which lasted close to three hours, was held at the Work’s Department Bungalow in Chandaka. In the meeting, the locals unanimously reiterated their demand for shifting of the dumping yard and the proposed waste treatment plant at Bhuasuni under Daruthenga panchayat.

The proceedings of the entire meeting have been videographed and the recordings will be sent to the Department of Environment and Forests for review, ADM Mohanty said after the meeting. The Ministry will take a call on the issue only after minutely observing the proceedings, sources said,

The villagers in Daruthenga have been protesting against the dumping yard as well the proposed treatment plant at Bhuasuni, citing health concerns and demanded their shifting. There are close to 40-50 families living close to the dumping yard.
