Suro RoutrayBhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader Suresh Kumar Routray, better known as Sura Routray, on Wednesday asserted that Prasad Harichandan will remain Odisha PCC Chief since the Party President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi are pleased with the organizational work done by him. .

Talking to Kalinga TV Routray said, “Congress Party, under the able leadership of Harichandan, is getting stronger day by day in every front, and the party will definitely come into the power in the next general election to be held in 2019.

The veteran leader vehemently criticized dissident leaders of the party who have been pressing their demand for removal of Harichandan as the PCC chief with the party High Command..

“A delegation of MLAs, led by Opposition Leader Nursingha Mishra, had visited Delhi before the Panchayat polls to meet the President of India Pranab Mukherjee over the Mahanadi Water sharing issue. During that tour, the team called on the Party Vice President Rahul Gandhi and pressed their demand to replace Harichandan from the post of Odisha PCC Chief. This affected the morale of party workers at grassroots level and – in turn – the confidence of the people, affecting the party in the Panchayat polls,” said Routray.

He also compared state party leaders who have left the grand old party and joined different political parties in the recent past with cotton.

Ironically, the veteran leader also claimed that as many as 40 BJD MLAs and an MP ready to cross-vote in the Presidential polls defying Naveen Patnaik’s decision are in touch with him. The BJD MLAs are protesting against the monopoly rule of Naveen Patnaik, Routray claimed.
