People make beeline to get BS-III vehicles after ban

Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: People made beelines at all the automobile showrooms as the companies are selling their vehicles with whopping discounts to clear all the stock today following Supreme Court’s ban on the sale and registration of the BS-III vehicles (Bharat Stage-3) from April 1.

According to reports, the automobile companies are selling their vehicles with a discount up to Rs 22,000 to clear the stock before the end of the deadline today.

In a bid to grab the opportunity of the unheard of discounts, people made long queues in front of the showrooms since early morning. However, they were unhappy to learn that there were not enough stock in the showrooms.

Since some of the showrooms in the city were seen closed today, people who visited them alleged that they were deprived from getting the vehicles as the employees of the showrooms gave priority to their known people. Some of them even said that the vehicles were sold in black.

According to sources, around 6.71 lakh two-wheelers out of over 8 lakh BS-III vehicles impacted by the Supreme Court’s ban.

The Apex Court imposed the ban on Wednesday to check the increasing levels of pollution caused by the BS-III vehicles.
