Odisha No 1 in country in distributing land pattas under FRA

Tribals get Land Patta under FRABhubaneswar: Odisha has distributed the maximum number of land pattas to Tribals under the Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006 in the country, SC/ST Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi said on Saturday.

As many as 45,897 people have been provided with individual land pattas while 5,891 people got community pattas. The district collectors have been instructed to demarcate all allotted land by March 2018, the Minister revealed. Land pattas have been provided for 67,988 acres under individual rights while 2,86,381 acres of land have been given under community rights, he added.

As per the Minister, 20 villages have already been identified as revenue villages by the State government. The villages where 80 to 90 percent people receive land pattas will be converted to revenue villages.
