Maoists blast railway station
Rayagada, Mar 31: Maoists carried out a blast at Daikallu railway station in the district late on Thursday night.
According to sources, around 50 armed Maoists barged into the railway station and ransacked the station office. Later, they carried out blast at the railway station and snatched away two walkie-talkie used by the Station Master.
Besides, the red rebels had abducted stationmaster S K Parida along with one Gobind Hika, but set them free later.
This apart, protesting the appointments of the non-Odia senior police officers, non-Odia administrative officers, non-Odia Jawans in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF), they put anti-government posters at various spots of the railway station.
One being informed, Rayagada Superintendent of Police and police force reached the spot and started investigation.
The incident has caused massive delay in the train schedule through the route as police and railway officials are examining the safety measures through the route.
The train services which have been disrupted due to the blast are:
12843 Puri -Ahmedabad Express controlled at Rayagada since 0310hrs.
22838 Ernakulam -Hatia express controlled at Bobbili since 0300hrs.
58530 Visakhapatnam -Durg passenger controlled at Jimidipeta since 0322hrs.
58302 Koraput -Sambalpur passenger to be controlled en route.
58528 Visakhapatnam -Raipur passenger controlled at Gajapatinagaram
18437 Bhubaneswar -Junagarh Express controlled at Rayagada since 0605hrs.
17482 Tirupati – Bilaspur Express may be controlled en route.
