Kalinga TV Twitter Impact: Govt responds to Sekhar Rao’s SOS

Sekhar-RaoBhubaneswar: D Sekhar Rao from Cuttack, who has brought laurels to the state through his magical performance in wind-surfing, may finally get the much desired help, as MLA Raja Swain acted on a June 4 tweet by Kalinga TV and got positive response from Odisha Sports & Youth Services Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera.

It’s the era of Social Media and Twitter plays a key role in reaching out to the masses. The BJD MLAs and Ministers who have been asked by CM Naveen Patnaik to go aggressive on social media, have started following his advice sincerely.

Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain, who is known for being active on Twitter and Facebook for long, had responded to a tweet by Kalinga TV on June 4, where we had drawn attention of key people, including him, seeking help for poverty-ridden D Sekhar Rao, who had qualified for an international event to be held in Chennai in November 2017 in Wind Surfing event, but was facing difficulties to get enough funds.

Raja Swain not only responded through a tweet immediately, but also called us to seek the details of Sekhar and his parents. He reached out to them and made sure he submitted a petition officially.

Showing all his concerns, Raja Swain finally wrote a letter to Sports & Youth Services Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera today and posted the copy on Twitter. And, within 20 minutes, the Minister too responded, saying he would look into the matter and do his bit to help Sekhar Rao.

Kalinga TV thanks MLA Raja Swain for pursuing this matter aggressively and also Minister Behera for responding to the MLA’s tweet positively. We just hope that Sekhar Rao turns out to the biggest beneficiary in this case.
