Huge cache of Maoist explosives seized in Bargarh
Bargarh: Acting on a tip-off, DVF and CRPF personnel led by Bargarh SP B. Jugal Kishore conducted a combing operation near Gandhamardhan hills under Paikmal Police station limits in Bargarh district on Friday and recovered a huge cache of explosives from a Maoist hideout.
The seized explosives include grenades, tiffin bombs, 8 kgs of gunpowder, arrows, LED lights, Maoist literature and uniforms.
Tough no red rebels were spotted during the combing operation, the recoveries reveal their presence in the area. It is assumed that the members of the outlawed group might have come from the neighbouring Chhattisgarh after combing operations were intensified in the state post the massive killing of 25 CRPF jawans last month.
Briefing media persons, Padmapur SDPO Laxminarayan Panda said, “Regular combing operation was being done in the area after we received inputs that Maoists, including some cadre Maoists, have sneaked into the area after attack on the CRPF contingent in Chhattisgarh. A huge quantity of explosives was recovered during a combing operation led by Bargarh SP B. Jugal Kishore.”
