Berhampur/ Jajpur, Apr 01: At least four persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Ganjam and Jajpur districts on Saturday.
In the first accident, a woman identified as Jyotirmayee Sahoo and her son Rahul Sahoo of Palibandh village died at Haladiapada near Berhampur in Ganjam district.
The accident took place when their scooty was hit by a speeding truck on NH-16.
Locals rushed the duo to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.
In the second accident, a couple was killed on the spot while four of their family members sustained critical injuries after a truck hit the car in which they were travelling on NH-215 near Jajpur Road Jail in Jajpur district today.
According to reports, Simanchal Panda and her wife Basanti Panda, natives of Kalinga Vihar in Bhubaneswar died on the spot due to the road mishap.
The victims were on their way to Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district to have darshan of Goddess Tarini, added the sources.
The injured have been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
