Jajpur, Mar 25: Hundreds of devotees gathered on the bank of Baitarani river to take holy dip at the Dasaswamedha ghat on the occasion of the beginning of the Kumbh Mela here on Saturday.
It is believed that making offerings to the forefathers on the day of ‘Mahabaruni Snana’ after taking a dip in the river will let the ancestors achieve ‘Moksha’ (liberation).
Sources said, the ‘Biswa Shanti’ yagnya has been started at the ghat after the ‘Alati’ (waving of lamps) last evening.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements including security to maintain law and order during the Kumbh Mela.
