CM Naveen to attend Inter-State Council meet today

New Delhi, Apr 09: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will attend the inter-state council meeting here on Sunday.

The Chief Minister will attend the inter-state council meeting to be chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and is likely to raise many important issues pertaining to Odisha which include the Mahanadi, Maoists and coal royalty issues.

Sources said, topics like role of Governors, centrally sponsored schemes and financial transfers from the Centre to the states will be discussed in the meeting.

The 11th Standing Committee meeting of the Council will also discuss the recommendations of the Punchhi Commission on Centre-state relations.

Apart from Patnaik, Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh will attend the meeting.

The members of the Standing Committee which include the Ministers for External Affairs, Finance and Corporate Affairs, Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation will also attend the meeting.
