CBI Court orders framing of charges against BJP MLA Dilip Ray

In a major blow to the senior BJP leader and the former Union Minister of State for Coal Dilip Ray, the CBI Court on Monday ordered to frame charges against him for his alleged involvement in the coal block allocation case.

The Court will frame charges against Ray and all the other accused involved in the alleged irregularities in allocation of Brahmadiha coal block in Jharkhand to Castron Technologies Limited in 1999. The court has fixed April 26 as the date for framing of charges.

Apart from Ray, against whom the Court will frame charges are Pradip Kumar Banerjee, the then Additional Secretary and Nitya Nand Gautam, former advisor (projects) in the Ministry of Coal, Castron Technologies Limited and its Director Mahendra Kumar Agarwalla.

The accused are likely to be charged with criminal conspiracy charges of IPC (section 120-B) with criminal breach of trust by a public servant (Section 409 of IPC) and criminal misconduct under Section 13 (1) (D) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Ray, the current BJP MLA of Rourkela, was the Union Minister of State for Coal during the erstwhile National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 1999.
