New Delhi, Apr 11: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) raised the Mahanadi issue in the Lok Sabha again on Tuesday.

According to reports, BJD leader in the Lok Sabha Bhartruhari Mahatab raised the issue in the Lower House of the Parliament and alleged that the Central government, despite repeated requests by the Odisha government, is not taking any action to resolve the ongoing Mahanadi water row between Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments.

The Cuttack MP said that though the Odisha government is protesting the construction of barrages on the upper catchments of Mahanadi River by the Chhattisgarh government vehemently and demanding for the constitution of a tribunal, the Union government acts impassively.

Earlier on April 9, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during the inter-state council standing committee meeting here had also reiterated his demand to constitute a tribunal to resolve the dispute.
