Bhubaneswar & Rourkela awarded in ‘Fastest Moving City’ Category

While none of the cities from Odisha managed to make the cut in ‘Clean Cities of India’ competition under #SwachhSurvekshan2017 with Bhubaneswar finishing a poor 94th in the country, some consolation prizes were given to the State in the end.

In the category of ‘India’s Fastest Moving City (East Zone >10 Lakh)’, Bhubaneswar emerged winner. Mayor Ananata Narayan Jena received the award from Union Housing & Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu. Bhubaneswar made significant progress by moving up to 94th rank against a poor 213rd rank in 2014.

In addition, Steel City Rourkela won the award in ‘India’s Fastest Moving City (East Zone 2-10 Lakh)’, making it two awards for the State.
