Bhubaneswar: In a major development to provide financial assistance to the people of Odisha, some selected banks have fixed a target to disburse loans worth Rs 60000 crores across the state.
Finance Minister Sashibhusan Behera has asked the banks to fulfill the target in letter and spirit.
Speaking as the chief guest at the 147th State level Bankers Committee Meeting held in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, the Minister also said that the Government of Odisha has planned to open at least 340 permanent bank branches and 337 temporary bank branches in remote areas of the state, where banking services are not still available.
Delegates from RBI, NABARD, major Nationalised Banks, Private Banks, Insurance Companies and other financial institutions were present in today’s meeting.
