Mumbai Indians beat RCB, move to top of Points Table

The Mumbai Indians registered an emphatic five-wicket win over depleted Royal challengers Bangalore to move to the top of the points table in IPL 2017 with 8 wins (16 points) from 10 matches.

Batting first, the RCB posted 162/8 in 20 overs. AB de Villiers was the top scorer with 43. Pawan Negi scored 35. Mitchell McClenaghan took 3 wickets, while Krunal Pandya took two wickets.

Chasing a victory target of 163, Mumbai lost Parthiv for a duck. However, Jos Buttler (33) and Nitish Rana (27) tried to consolidate the innings. It was skipper Rohit Sharma who led from the front and powered his team to a win with the knock of unbeaten 56.

Mumbai reached 165/5 in 19.5 overs. Rohit Sharma hit the winning boundary. Pawan Negi took two wickets for the RCB. Rohit Sharma was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’.
