Badrinath Ki Dulhania nears Rs 100 cr after second weekend

After its second weekend, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is nearing the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. While the numbers saw a steep dip after Holi and maintained the same pace throughout the week, it redeemed itself a little on Saturday.

Though Friday saw the release of two other films, Vikramaditya Motwane’s survival drama Trapped and the family drama MantraBadrinath Ki Dulhania managed to stay put at the box office. Its total collection stands at Rs 83.77 crore as on 19 March. Film critic Taran Adarsh predicted the film to hit the Rs 100 crore mark soon.

The film managed to attract a decent footfall on its opening day, amounting to a collection of Rs 12 crore-plus across India, as reported by The Indian Express. It saw constant progress throughout the weekend. In spite of a minor dip in the collection on Monday, the film managed to stay put and passed the Monday test. With Rs 12.08 crore on Monday, the total collection of the film now stands at Rs 55.13 crore.

Since it was the only Hindi release that Friday, it cashed in on the long weekend by scoring a good collection on Sunday, i.e., Rs 16.05 crore, and Monday, i.e., Rs 12.08 crore. Had it been any other day than Holi, the film have seen a steeper dip on Monday. But being a family entertainer, with some elements designed exclusively for the festival, it managed to pass the proverbial Monday test.
