Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: Dr Iti Samanta bagged the Best Story Award for ‘Krantidhara’ at the seventh Odia Film Fair Award here on Wednesday.
Dr Iti Samanta, who is also an editor, publisher, producer and social worker, was conferred the award in a glittering ceremony at Utkal Mandap.
‘Krantidhra’ was based on ‘Jhada Pare Surya’ written by her.
Dr Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT and KISS had produced the film while Himansu Khatua, the National Award-winning Odia filmmaker had directed it.
The film was adjudged as the Best Film at the 26th State Film Awards for the year 2014 ahead of its release on February 19, 2016. Gargi Mohanty, who has played the lead role in the film, also had bagged the award for best actress.
‘Krantidhara’ is the second feature film by the Kadambini Media and the first ever Odia film with sync sound.
