Bhubaneswar: It’s admission time and students have to go through a lot of hassles while completing the formalities for admission to various colleges. Not at BJB College though. Help is at hand for freshers at this premier college in the capital city.
As you enter the premises of BJB college, you are greeted by two students at the entrance. The plus three second and third year students are present there to guide you through the entire admission procedure.
“The admission rules keep changing, which creates a lot of confusion among applicants. So, a few of us are voluntarily helping students with some queries and giving them details about the admission,” says Laxmiranjan Tripathy, one of the volunteers deployed at the form-fill up area.
There are close to 20 volunteers monitoring the entire process. These volunteer students are at work from 11 am to 1 pm and again from 2 pm to 5 pm.
“Earlier, when there was a confusion, parents and students would queue up at the admission window and keep asking questions, thereby delaying the whole process. With us assisting, the work of the teachers sitting at the admission window gets easier and the whole process becomes faster,” says Sachin Tidu, another student volunteer.
The volunteer students say they will continue helping out freshers till the entire admission process is complete.
