A special session of the Odisha Assembly has been convened on May 18 and 19 to pass the State GST Bill, which will pave way for the roll out of nationwide GST on July 1, as planned by the Centre.

The decision to convene the Special Assembly Session was taken after Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik attended the NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi yesterday where Finance Minister Arun Jaitley requested the States to pass their respective GST Bills at the earlist.

Naveen, who is very close to Arun Jaitley and leads from the front on all policy decisions, did not disappoint this time too. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have already passed the GST (Goods & Service Tax) Bill.
