Bhubaneswar: After opposition Congress and BJP, the Odisha unit of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday cornered the ruling BJD over the Kunduli gang rape in Koraput district alleging that Odisha government successfully covered-up the issue.

The TMC, in a press meet here, claimed that the Home Department of Odisha government has failed to identify any of the accused even after 15 days of the heinous crime. It also demanded a Judicial enquiry into the incident.

Aryakumar Jnanendra, Chairman of the Odisha unit of the party, alleged that the state government is well aware that the Opposition parties in the state are very weak and none of the media house would cover the issue till the end. Besides, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also knows that people’s memory is short; therefore it used the police to blackout the incident. Police’s empty hand, even though 15 days after the incident, is an example of this, Jnanendra added.

Terming the incident no way less than the 2012 Delhi gang rape case which had created huge public outcry in the entire nation, he demanded a Judicial probe into the incident.

The political outfit also said that it had on October 20 submitted a memorandum to the Odisha Governor in this regard.

The party also threatened to press its demand before the President of India if the state government fails to arrest  the accused of the gangrape within seven days.
