Khordha: At least two construction labourers were critically hurt after a moped they were travelling by caught fire after head-on crash with a car at Rameswar Square on NH-16 here on Monday.
The injured have been identified as Santosh Dash of Bajrakuta village and Ananta Dash of Badakhuntuni village under Sarankul police limits.
The victim duo, who worked as construction labourers were on their way to Nirakarpur from Jankia in the morning when the mishap took place. While trying to cross the Highway on their TVS XL moped (Registration No. OD 25 F 6295) at around 8 AM, they struck with a speeding car. The collision was so serious that the moped erupted in flames leaving the duo severely injured on the spot.
The injured were rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar by Jankia Police which seized the car involved in the crash reaching the spot.
