Cuttack: In a major blow to Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Prabhat Biswal in Seashore chit fund case, the Orissa High Court rejected his bail plea today and ordered CBI to complete its investigation within two months and submit the final report.

The court also made it clear that Biswal could only apply for bail in lower court, after the submission of the CBI investigation report.

The legislator who is currently admitted to SCB Medical in Cuttack due to failing health is under scanner by the central investigating agency over his involvement with Seashore Group CMD Prashant Dash in a land deal. The deal was made between Biswal’s wife Bilasini and Prashant involving a plot located at Benapur in Jajpur district.

Biswal had moved a bail plea in the Highcourt on October 3 after being arrested by CBI on September 19. In his bail plea the legislator had stated that the case in which he had been arrested was actually against his wife.

Notably, the Cuttack-Choudwar MLA remained under CBI remand for at least four days till he complained of sickness and was rushed to Capital Hospital on September 22. He was shifted to SCB on September 25 due to further deterioration in health condition.
